Your first little harvest.

Cache Crop helps you understand developer storage on macOS 14 or later. This release previews cleanup plans. It never runs them.

1. Install the app

Download the disk image, open it and drag Cache Crop into Applications. Open the app from Applications. The download supports Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

Free basic scanning · macOS 14+ · Apple silicon & Intel

Preview release. No files are deleted.

2. Choose project folders

Open Scan locations and add the folders you want to inspect. Basic scans the first selected folder, plus common developer caches, Xcode DerivedData and simulator inventory. Pro can inspect all selected project folders. Changes only persist when you save.

3. Take stock

Click Scan. Search for a project or path and sort by size or name. Pro adds age filters. A folder's last change is not proof of its last use, and allocated bytes are estimates rather than a promise of recoverable physical space.

4. Look closer before making changes

Open an item's details for its full path and rebuild guidance, or reveal it in Finder. Keep an item to exclude it from your review. Running or unknown-state simulator devices stay protected. Selecting a Git worktree does not make the entire worktree disposable.

5. Review a plan with Pro

Select items, then Review plan. Simulator previews require an explicit acknowledgement and a fresh shutdown-state check. Changed, incomplete or replaced paths are left out. You can copy the plan as JSON, but it is not an executable script. No file moves or deletion take place.

Activate Pro

Choose a monthly or annual subscription on the pricing page. Find the license key in your Polar customer portal, then open License & Pro in Cache Crop and activate this Mac. One subscription allows two personal Macs. You can deactivate a Mac in the app or portal. Never send your full key to support.

Updates and subscription checks

Use Check for Updates in the app menu for signed updates. Pro licenses are rechecked online periodically, with up to seven days offline after successful validation. If verification cannot be completed after that grace, basic scanning remains available. Manage or cancel your subscription in the Polar customer portal.
